Young Colin Francis McIsaac was born in 1860, probably on April 24th and his baptism took place at St. Ninian on April 27th with sponsors William Grant and Margaret Chisholm standing in for the newborn. His parents are identified as Angus and Mary McIsaac.

[1]

No obituary exists in The Casket for Colin and the NS Vital Records do not begin for another two years; therefore no death record exists.

We are able to locate a baptismal record for a sibling Peter Paul McIsaac at St. Ninian. An older brother John A. McIsaac will be identified later.

An Obituary for Peter Paul McIsaac is transcribed here:

Sep 28, 1899 Peter Paul MacIsaac, second son of Angus McIsaac, J.P. of this Town died in Butte, Montana on last Thursday in the forty first year of his age. About twelve years ago he left home to become a member of the Governor General’s Foot Guards at Ottawa. After a short time in the area he joined the North West Mounted Police and was stationed for two years at Regina, North West Territory. Then he went to Montana where he was engaged in mining until he was struck down with pneumonia of which he died after a short illness. In his last moments he was consoled by the rites of the church. His remains are on the way home and his funeral will take place probably on Saturday. His bereaved Father and relatives have the sympathy of the community in their loss. May he Rest in Peace. [2]

Another sibling of Colin is John McIsaac; the oldest born son of Angus ‘tailor’ McIsaac and Mary nee McKinnon. We discover that he works as a teacher [3] for a period of time and by 1891 he serves as Bank Manager [4] for the Merchants Bank.[5] His facility in the Gaelic language makes him an asset in dealing with clients in the rural communities.

Further detail on the parents of Colin Francis McIsaac can be found by looking at Mary McIsaac’s entry.

Pioneer Cemetery Heritage Project

It is only in recent years that we have come to the realization that we have neglected our ancestors and the contribution they made to our society. We must tell the story of these courageous men and women in words that will inspire our children to take pride in the mighty accomplishments of their forebears.
